He loves his family and wants the best for them – but loves his ability to not be fully involved. Some people looking in might find Keith’s boundaries with his family, odd. But to him, it’s protecting himself from past and future trauma. Partying and large gatherings are not his first choice of events, opting him to usually take the third shift at work. He loves the silence of the dark and prefers being at home reading a book or getting a meal with the Andrews. From his past, Keith sometimes finds himself slipping back into the behaviors he picked up from his gramps. Viewing women as the homemaker and not the worker or viewing himself as the center of the universe. But it’s improved greatly with therapy, and he doesn’t allow his anger to control his actions. He’s a much more mellow guy now, wanting to see the best in the world – even when it hurt him the most. the history father • Shaun Gavin Breckah , 43, boxing coach mother • Tracy Breckah - Deceased siblings • DEREK DANIEL BRECKAH , 22 -- --, 20 MAVERICK THOMAS BRECKAH , 19 Jace Christian Breckah , 17 LINCOLN HARVEY BRECKAH , 16 -- -- --, 15 CREVEN PATRICK BRECKAH , 14 important people • FIONN LEIF MURPHY , cousin Clayton Maddox Breckah , cousin Roger Andrews, 65, retired Liane Andrews, 64, retired hometown • Dublin, Ireland overall history • Keith is the oldest child of the Breckah clan. After his birth, it had become muddy about what kids wanted or not, as it was the Irish Catholic way. At least, that’s what gramps told him. Growing up, it was a bit of a mess. Not in the sense of favoritism or anything, but the constant moving after more children were added. It made Keith’s childhood something he resents, mainly as there was never a sense of stability. It was always about the road of boxing and making the family name. Finding some solace and independence, Keith found himself talking more with his grandparents, something that would end up being pandora’s box. Keith looked up to his grandfather, almost idolizing the man. He was a strong man with even stronger values. Being a sponge and needing something separate from his siblings and parents – Keith found himself repeating his gramps. No tears were allowed, no emotions. Showing that kind of stuff made him a wuss. Keith was a statue. While his brothers showed their feelings about Jace openly, Keith shut them in until he was alone with the boy. Regretful words were said, but surprisingly no physical harm. While Keith loved the ring, he never fought his brothers outside of it. Things didn’t change for Keith until he was fifteen. His marble exterior began to crack when his anger came out in full force when he was rejected by a girl he asked to dance with. It had flared up to the point he followed her home and got into a fist fight with her brother. The silence of a jail cell, and the darkness of it all – made Keith realize a few things. The silence was comforting, and the darkness warm. For the first time, he cried. He allowed himself to cry, scream, and do everything his gramps told him he wasn’t allowed to do. His guard, a man named Roger – became the voice of reason. For the first time, Keith had a man tell him that his emotions were normal and okay. But it was about how one controlled them. Why punch a face when there was a pillow or a punching bag? After his time in the slammer, Keith returned home – the words of Roger with him. The times he wanted to yell and scream, he found the punching bag his dad had. While boxing wasn’t something the other kids liked or kept up with, it kept Keith in control. Saved him and the others around him. But home life was difficult. Keith, realizing he thrived in silence, called a meeting with his parents. It was a long, heated meeting only proving what Keith knew, so he left at sixteen. It didn’t take long for Keith to locate Roger, whom he had kept in contact with, asking for guidance. The old man, with a heart of gold – took the poor teen in. Roger and his wife, Liane, were the middle ground between Shaun and Tracey. There was firmness, but a lot of love and care. There was no good or bad cop, as the Breckah household felt. Despite moving out, Keith kept in touch with his parents and brothers. He didn’t hate them; he just wasn’t able to flourish at home. During his time with the Andrews family, Keith fell in love with the work Liane was in. She was a Neurosurgeon, and Keith became enamored with how the brain worked. It also led Keith to understand what his brother Jace was most likely going through. His brother’s brain worked differently than everyone else in his family, but he didn’t quite know what made it different. His love for the brain and nervous system led Keith to become a nurse – his focus being neurology and psychology. After graduating from nursing school, Keith moved to London for a year before being called home again. Tracey had died. She had a heart attack while driving and died instantly after colliding with oncoming traffic. Knowing his boundaries, Keith moved back to Willow Bridge city. It was close enough to see his family but far enough to not get too wrapped up. His mother’s death hurt him but didn’t hurt him as much as his other siblings. Keith allowed himself to cry in private and in front of the Andrews, but he knew he had to keep it together for his dad and brothers. He’s hoping to get his dad to understand Jace’s situation, and if needed – help Jace move out to get better treatment. To support himself, Keith was able to transfer his psych ward position to the city. If everything goes as planned, Keith hopes to become a Nurse Practitioner. At the moment, he’s adjusting to the tragedy and trying to figure out how to handle his family’s situation – while protecting himself, mentally and physically. the role player alias • aofie age • cell formation other characters • a few family trees |
